Mangaluru: Yenepoya Speciality Hospital gets NABH Accreditation
Mangaluru, Jan 21: City based Yenepoya Speciality Hospital, has been granted certified by the National Accreditation Board for Hospitals & Healthcare Providers (NABH), a constituent board of Quality Council of India (QCI), with effect from January 8, 2018.
A release said Yenepoya is among 491 hospitals that got accreditation out of 1,200-plus applicant hospitals across the country.
The hospital introduced significant changes to improve patient safety and quality of healthcare towards achieving NABH accreditation, the release said. Commitment to create a culture of quality, patient safety, efficiency and accountability towards patient care was the primary ingredient to get the accreditation.
NABH standards are set in consultation with healthcare experts and providers, measurement experts and patients. To achieve international-level standards, a hospital needs to go through stringent scrutiny and quality audit. Registration, admission, pre-surgery, peri-surgery and post-surgery protocols, discharge from the hospital to follow up are the aspects which are inspected to check whether the policies and protocols are transparent.
The NABH standards are revised every three years and therefore the accreditation has to be renewed every three years. The fourth edition of NABH standards released in December 2015 is in use now.
